Carrying troubles around with us affects our physical and mental health. Sometimes we may pinpoint the source of our difficulties to a specific experience, recent or in the past.  At other times it may feel as if life generally is overwhelming. Working with a counsellor is an opportunity to reflect on what is going on for you in a safe and supportive environment. It offers time for you to process your emotions and to identify and harness inner resources in order that you may work towards clarity and healing.

Choosing the right counsellor for you

It is important to find a counsellor you feel able to work with. The development of a safe and trusting relationship in the counselling room is the foundation for the work that you will do with your counsellor.

I offer a free initial consultation online or on the phone. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have and to help you decide if working together feels right for you.

I do not underestimate the courage that is required to take the first step towards change. By considering counselling you have already taken that step.

About me

I work with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, bereavement, thoughts of suicide, domestic abuse and past trauma including sexual and emotional abuse. I came to counselling from a physiotherapy background and have a special interest in the impact emotional difficulties have on the way our bodies feel and function. I work with people who experience physical illness and have been unable to find a medical reason for their symptoms.  I recognise that each person who attends counselling has a unique set of circumstances and experiences and that nobody will fit neatly into any one category. I will work with you and with whatever it is you bring to our sessions with respect and without judgement.

I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and abide by their Ethical Framework and Professional Standards. I have a CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and additional training in working with trauma and also in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
